On March 29th, 2023, the NEWSERA final event ‘Conversations around citizen science communication and citizen science journalism’ will be hosted at the BIP Meeting Centre, in the historic center of Brussels.
NEWSERA final conference
NEWSERA, a Horizon 2020 project leading the research on citizen science communication, in the past three years has studied how citizen science initiatives can innovate the way they communicate science, to engage multiple parts of society and create common benefits.
The results of this research will be presented during the final conference in Brussels, with the showcasing of the NEWSERA Blueprints and a Guide for Citizen Science Communication and Citizen Science Journalism.
These documents that will provide tools, channels, and case studies for citizen science initiatives to design effective science communication strategies addressed to quadruple helix stakeholders (citizens, academia, policymakers and industry) and journalists.
ENJOI @ NEWSERA final event
The ENJOI project will also be presented at the NEWSERA final event. Elisabetta Tola, ENJOI coordinator, will give a talk about the ENJOI’s Manifesto and Observatory for high-quality science journalism.
Within NEWSERA, Elisabetta Tola also co-authered the Blueprint with and for Science Journalists, and she will moderate a roundtable about lessons learnt in the field with NEWSERA pilot representatives
There will also be talks on science communication and citizen science by Aleksandra Hebda (Policy Officer, DG R&I, European Commission), Roberta Monachello (NEWSERA Project Officer), and Vita Crivello (Policy Analyst, European Science Media Hub).
